Business coaching is a continuous partnership that is intended to help you achieve results in your professional life. It aims to obtain solutions and strategies on your part. You are naturally creative and full of resources. The main objective is to help you become a better salesman, better employee, better manager or even a better business owner.
Therefore, coaching work is to sustain you in your professional life and to highlight the competencies, resources and creativity you already possess.
A business coach can help a professional who has an isolated or a recurrent problem (interpersonal relations, stress; emotional health; a new posting; sales decreasing; lack of growth for your home business). The coach will help you to attain the professional objectives that you are not able to achieve. He can also help those who have achieved their objectives, who are able to go further, but who did not succeed. Picture yourself having the best sales on your team or being the manager (or owner) of a regional business becoming national or, even better, international.
A business coach may help those who are offered a new position and who wish to make their own mark.
Business coach may target a specific situation (important event) rather than on an employee - how to succeed, anticipate and avoid obstacles.
Business coaching may be an interesting tool to use when a problem is occurring, recurrent difficulties are present that are significant for an enterprise, and a solution must be found. The coachee may not be the right target for the problem has a systemic cause.
The request for an intervention may come from a manager, business owner or sales representative who wishes coaching for another person and who has expectations for results. It may be a coachee who is requesting a coaching approach following an arrival, transfer, departure, new posting or a performance assessment. The client may have expectations or not.
Another possibility is that the enterprise proposes coaching on a volunteer basis to sales representatives, managers or employees who wish to participate in a promotion process or when they have followed training or a seminar on teamwork. Enterprises may have expectations or not.
The sequence of events in business coaching begins with an exploratory meeting with the client, business owner or business manager, in order to identify the coaching needs of the employee, using a developmental objectives format. The client should inform the employee (a manager, a sales representative or an employee) of the coaching approach decided upon. An observation session is established in order to identify strengths and ways to improve, in keeping with targeted objectives.
The first interview with the coachee allows for the discernment of specific and evident criteria that will help to achieve the developmental objective. Business coaching can have many destinations: it can go from having better performance, or better sales to being a better manager ! A suggested plan of action is presented to the client and to the employee, indicating duration and frequency of coaching sessions. An approval of the action plan is required from the client (business owner or manager) and the coachee (manager, sales representative or employee). Thereafter, it is time to carry out coaching sessions with the support of the immediate superior between sessions. A closing session bringing together all involved in the coaching process is held.
When business coaching is aimed at an emotional health objective for the employee, observation is replaced by a psychometric test that specifically establishes key-competencies to develop with the individual. A specific action plan for the coaching approach is presented to those involved. Coaching sessions occur with the employee. The immediate superior supports the employee between sessions. Finally, another evaluation is done to analyse emotional health improvement and a closing session is held for those involved in the coaching approach.
When coaching is aimed at problem solving within an enterprise, business coaching begins with an exploratory meeting with the business owner or manager in order to identify the problems to be resolved. This latter informs management of the concerned service of the coaching approach decided upon. Observation is done with concerned services in order to identify strengths and ways to improve in keeping with the specific situation. A first meeting with the different teams involved will allow for the discernment of specific criteria that will resolve the problem. A suggested action plan is presented to the client, indicating the duration and frequency of the business coaching sessions. An approval of the action plan is, once again, required from the client (business owner or manager) and the coachee (manager, sales representative or an employee). Following this, there are coaching sessions with the support of the immediate superior of the concerned services between sessions. A closing session is held with all involved.
The rates are standardized. They are the same for home business and for big enterprise: the planning of coaching sessions is $200 per one hour session. Three hour coaching sessions are $500. An observation session or the administration of a psychometric test is $200. Sessions cancelled unilaterally will be billed.
